Dietary Aide/cook (Full-time)

Description

Power County Hospital District is hiring for a cook/aide position in our dietary department.

Key Objective:

Ensures that the Idaho Diet Manual standards of food production, presentation, and sanitation is maintained during the assigned shift.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  1. Maintain compliance regarding patient and resident rights.
  2. Perform all work in accordance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.
  3. Monitor and wash dishes as they accumulate to ensure clean work environment. This includes dishes in the cafeteria.
  4. Clean and maintain dishwasher area as needed following facility and manufacturer instructions.
  5. Maintain record of dishwasher temperatures. Inform supervisor if temperatures are out of acceptable range
  6. Maintain and stock the cafeteria and kitchen to include drawers, fridge, snacks, also stock the kitchen as needed with containers, napkins, supplements, and whatever else is needed.
  7. Monitor and replace all cleaning solutions used by the dishwasher and 3 compartments sink as needed.
  8. Follow daily menus to prepare trays with diet cards, beverages, supplements, fruit, desserts as needed.
  9. Transport meals via meal cart to Hospital and LTC.
  10. Report broken or damaged utensils and any malfunctions in equipment to supervisor.
  11. Record all food and supplement temps on temp sheet before tray line.
  12. Prepares and plates quality food accurately and attractively according to diet and menu while adhering to nutritional needs of the patient/resident.
  13. Provide customer service to patients, residents, and patrons while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation and safety.
  14. Ensure proper sanitation and storage of kitchen equipment, food and supplies.
  15. Prepare for upcoming meals by allowing appropriate thawing according to HACCP.
  16. Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
  17. Chart temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, total number of meals served daily (including guest trays), and completion of tasks.
  18. Use first-in, first-out, method of food usage.
  19. Assist in the cleaning of the kitchen, kitchen equipment, food storage, and supply areas according to the facility schedule.
  20. Dispose of all garbage per sanitation regulations
  21. Adhere to the established dietary standards for personal hygiene and personal appearance. See employee manual.
  22. Follow safety procedures as stated in dietary policies and procedures.
  23. Act as cashier during mealtimes in the cafeteria
  24. Secure kitchen facilities prior to leaving at the end of the day
  25. All other duties as assigned. Duties are dependent upon the position being worked for the shift.
  26. Patient Safety Sensitive Position – Due to the handling of patient/resident food and the assembly of special diets, this position will be considered a patient safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  1. At least 18 years old.
  2. Able to read, write and comprehend English.
  3. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals.
  4. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  5. Ability to solve routine problems.
  6. Ability to follow a recipe.
