ACCOUNTING CLERK (Full-time)
Description
Purpose:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the financial functions of Power County Hospital District. This includes accurate and timely processing accounts payable and payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing reports and documents. This position does not directly supervise other employees. Travel is limited.
Responsibilities:
1. Review, verify, reconcile and record vendor invoices and employee reimbursements for payment. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Manage the check run and digital payments. Provide weekly cash requirements to the CFO. Understand and maintain the accounts payable platform and alternate payment methods (EFT, ACH, etc.)
2. Process bi-weekly payroll; work with Human Resources, managers and employees to ensure payroll is processed correctly. Work with the platform vendor to resolve processing issues and maintain pay processing setups.
3. Adhere to PCHD’s confidentiality policies regarding facility business and internal information about the hospital district, its employees, customers, and suppliers. Strictly adhere to all IT and cybersecurity policies and procedures.
4. Communicate effectively through the chain of command. Manage vendor communications and promptly escalate nonroutine exchanges.
5. Prepare reports and other documents as needed for audits, cost reporting, financials, and ad hoc requests.
6. Organize and maintain department files and archive documents according to retention schedules.
7. Prepare and file annual 1099 forms.
8. Serve as backup for Central Supply. Assist with physical inventory counts when needed.
9. Support switchboard and front desk functions as needed. Perform all other duties assigned by CFO.
Qualifications
- Experience and education:
1. High School graduation required.
2. Previous related work experience with accounts payable and payroll required. General ledger accounting experience is beneficial.
3. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is required. Excel experience required.
4. Analytical skills with high attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills required.
6. Ability to work independently and strong organization and time-management skills are required.
7. Must speak English.
Working Conditions:
1. Subject to frequent interruptions.
2. Interact with other personnel, physicians and patients.
3. Stand, sit, bend, lift, and use frequent pushing and pulling movements. Walking throughout the hospital, clinic, and therapy locations is necessary.
4. May rarely encounter hostile personnel, physicians, patients and families.
5. Occasional overtime may be required.
